Dates 2013:
28th July – 3rd August
4th August – 10th August

Thse workshops are intended to give absolute beginners and improvers the skills to create something magical, functional, obscure, weird, practical or anything you fancy. Even if you have never touched clay in your life, with the help of our experienced ceramicist you can create whatever you want. (Well almost!)  All photographs are of participants’ work who have had no previous experience with clay!

The clay we use is dug straight from our own land, then hand prepared awaiting your creations. If anybody is interested in this process, volunteers are always welcome – wellies will be provided…) At the end of the week you will be going home with not only your own work but also a whole week of experience and fun memories. Spaces are limited to six people.

Schedule
The week begins on Sunday with an evening meal and finishes after breakfast on Saturday. Workshops take place every morning Monday to Fridaywith our 2 resident potters – Siobain O’Brien, BA Ceramics and Cari Ryan with 25 years of teaching pottery. Afternoons are left free to explore the countryside, search for creative inspiration or dip into one of the other activities going on at Boghill. So you can experience a bit of our natural landscape, included in the week is a guided Burren walk or a Nature Watching tour at the Cliffs of Moher and optional trips/activities will be organised each afternoon with recommendations made on sight seeing. In the late afternoon there will be a Ceramics Studio session with a chance to complete work, prepare creations for the kiln, or help with the technical side of clay processing.  Evenings can spent in sessions in the local pubs (a minibus will go out each evenng), relaxing with a good book or whatever takes your fancy!

The  Ceramics Workshops will run at the same time as the Traditional Irish Music Workshops (ear plugs are optional!!) and the Eco Experience week offering participants an opportunity to dip into modules other than their chosen focus at no extra cost – have a look at the programmes on offer.

At Boghill we seek to foster a community ethos and all guests are encouraged to make themselves at home – even help with the washing up if they like! The meals are vegetarian – for those meat eaters amongst you – you won’t even notice the absence of meat.
